How do eccrine glands work?
Eccrine glands are responsible for thermoregulatory sweating. Simply put, when the temperature is very high, these glands release sweat which then evaporates and removes heat from the body. This type of physiological sweating first starts in the skin of the head and forehead, then on the face and rest of the skin. Thermoregulatory sweat is produced on the palms and soles. Due to the thermoregulatory gland, sweating also occurs during emotional stress. In this situation, the palms, soles and armpits first sweat.

Apocrine glands are coiled tubular sweat glands that are attached to the hair follicles of the skin. They are found in the skin of the armpits, areola, nipples, perianal skin and the outer skin of the body. Apocrine glands secrete a sticky, oily substance, which is yellowish in colour, and has a pungent odour. This gland remains more active in young people.
