This CEO gets the weight off his mind by doing some heavy lifting

What is a training session like?
I put on my favorite playlist, which changes depending on my mood. Then I spend the first 10-15 minutes warming up, doing mobility exercises, using a foam roller, and activating the muscle groups I’m going to focus on. Then I move on to the exercise sets I have for that day. It usually consists of three big compound movements, plus three more exercises that target a specific muscle group. Then I finish with some light stretching to relax. It can take me one to two hours, depending on how focused I am that day.

What are the benefits of lifting weights?
There are so many. It’s a great way to support your overall health, from protecting your bone health to getting your endorphins flowing. It can help you move better, and it also helps keep your body fit. For me, the most important thing is that it makes me feel good. If I have a stressful day, I blow off steam at the gym. It helps me be the best version of myself.

My Muscle Chef was established when Menon was unable to find high protein ready meals with a balanced nutritional profile.

Do you have a special diet?
I wouldn’t say I have a special diet, but I do follow a specific breakdown of macronutrients (carbs, fats, protein) for my needs. This is what sparked the idea for My Muscle Chef. I was studying at the university and training a lot in the gym. I struggled to find ready meals that were high in protein and clear on the macros at every meal. Eating a high-protein diet with a balanced nutritional profile is extremely beneficial, not only for weightlifters and athletes, but also for anyone who wants to support their physical and mental health.

Have you ever been seriously injured?
Luckily, I haven’t. I just had some minor discomfort that comes with years of training.

Do you like weightlifting better?
I love that I have the power to transform my body through movement. I love the feeling of making steady progress and achieving goals over time. There is immense satisfaction in sticking to a plan, executing it, and seeing the results, just like in business. I really enjoy the mental and physical challenge.

You do not like?
Weightlifting culture can sometimes be obsessed with physical results. It’s also about appreciating the hidden benefits, like increased mental well-being or better mobility.

Advice for people who want to start lifting weights?
Give it a try! If it is something that interests you: try it. You will be amazed at what you can achieve and the physical and emotional benefits. However, I would suggest working with a professional trainer to ensure you start off with a solid foundation.
