After achieving incredible things with its subcutaneous glucose monitoring patch, health tech startup Ultrahuman is looking to improve our way of life with a wearable device that literally fits around your finger.
The company rose to fame with the M1, a simple patch worn on the arm that constantly monitored blood glucose (CGM) levels. This small patch, which worked in a similar way to the glucose test kits used by diabetic patients, was able to provide constant real-time information on their glucose levels. You could literally see them go up after eating a donut and go down after a moderate workout. The M1 was simply a springboard for the company, which has much higher aspirations in the health technology space. The Ultrahuman Ring is capable of tracking your metabolism and health by relying on a bunch of sensors that detect movement, temperature, and heart rate.

In short, that’s just hot air to see how your lifestyle and choices affect your health, giving you information to make better decisions in the future. Make the right decisions and you can literally measure your progress. Swerve out of the way and the ring will gently push you back allowing you to see your scores level off. Combined with the M1 patch, Ring gives you insights into your health that no other technology product or ecosystem can. No, not even your latest generation smartwatch.
The Ultrahuman Ring is quite a sleek looking device that fits on your finger, with a cutting edge and minimalist design. Designed to look less like a wearable device and more like a piece of jewelry, the ring comes with a tungsten carbide-coated titanium outer shell that features a beautiful metallic finish, beneath which are the ring’s electronic components, embedded in a hypoallergenic resin. This makes the Ring durable, comfortable, and waterproof to 7 feet. The tungsten carbide coating on the outside is 5 times harder than tool steel (the kind used in shop equipment), making your ring virtually impervious to scratches and dents.
Beneath its tiny, fruit ring-sized exterior lies some impressive technology. The Ring comes with a 6-axis motion sensor, a non-contact temperature sensor, a PPG sensor that detects heat rate, a Bluetooth Low Energy 5 module, and a battery that gives the Ring almost a week of use on a single charge. full charge (although you may want to charge it during the day so you can track sleep at night).
The Ring sends data to its companion smartphone app (available for both Android and iOS), which then analyzes the numbers and presents you with insights on how to better plan your life for better health, sleep and recovery. The magic lies in the fact that you can see your metabolism statistics in real time, being able to compare them with statistics from the past. This allows you to understand your body’s nutritional requirements, sleep needs, and exercise limits, giving you much more insightful control over your health.
The Ultrahuman Ring comes in 7 different sizes, ranging from US 6 to US 12, and the company even plans to send backers a sizing kit to help them choose the right size and fit before shipping out the hardware. Along with the size, backers can also choose the color of their ring, which is available in Cyber Grey, Bionic Gold, Aster Black and Space Silver. You also get a wireless charging pad to help replenish the ring’s battery every 4-6 days. The Ultrahuman Ring starts at $212, with global shipping starting in January 2023…just in time for those New Year’s fitness resolutions!
