Don’t let another year go by wishing you had improved your fitness and lost weight.
It’s a hard road, so how do you give yourself a fighting chance to win this battle?
Start a little “selfish”: In order to truly achieve your goals, you have to put yourself first.
That sounds easy to say, but hard to do, especially if you’re a parent. I am not saying to neglect your children and spouse and only think about yourself.

I am saying that you have to create a specific time when the priority is you. This “selfishness” you create may ultimately provide you and your family with more opportunities in the future.
Push through sloth: There will be days, many days, when your laziness will become strong.
Don’t give yourself the option of sitting all day. If you set a goal of doing a 30-minute lift, go for it.
It doesn’t have to be the best workout of your life, but get past that laziness and get the job done. Don’t give yourself the option of missing a workout.
Take the data and move on: Not many people get pure pleasure from stepping on the scale, but it’s data that needs to be collected to make sure what you’re doing is working.
It doesn’t have to be every day, but often, say once a week. To stay sane during the fitness process is to take the facts and move on.
Don’t get emotionally attached to the data, but you should get emotionally attached to your end goal. Do you want to lose weight and keep it off? Collect that data.

So jump on that scale, see what the number is, and make a move from there. If it’s not the number you expected, don’t worry, bother or distress.
There are so many reasons why the scale varies from day to day. Remember that it is only a data collection.
But if it’s a good number, give yourself a good smile and move on to your next workout.
