TOP’s lawyer, Aamer Anwar, has spoken out about getting help for the “deep-seated trauma” he has experienced.
The former rector of the University of Glasgow took to social media to share a childhood photo with his family and revealed that he had battled demons for “decades” before seeking help.
He wrote: “For so many decades I have struggled with deep-seated trauma, dark moments came and went, channeling anger, help I never sought and the last few weeks life spiraled out of control.
He added: “Today was a first step in reaching out for help and I am grateful to those in my life who helped me get there.”

The 54-year-old lawyer became famous in Scotland for campaigning for the family of Surjit Singh Chhokar, a bartender who was murdered in North Lanarkshire in November 1998.

also represented Forest ranger star Glen Kamara after he claimed to have suffered racial abuse by Slavia Prague player Ondrej Kudela at a match in March 2021.
Aamer spoke more about his mental health Health in a podcast last week, reports the Scottish Sun.
He said: “I have my dark moments. On and off over the years, my mental health has suffered.
“You feel completely alone. I have the flashbacks, I have the post-traumatic, I have the anger.
“Sometimes I sit there and I think: ‘I want peace, I want to be able to disconnect, I want to enjoy life'”.
