Tributes paid to young mum-of-two who tragically took own life

A tragically young mother he took his life following a mental health battle, a coroner has ruled.

Sophie Watts, 21, was rushed to hospital after being discovered unconscious at her home on February 3, 2021.

His family paid him an emotional tribute in the investigation carried out in Teesside Forensic Court on January 13, describing her as a “beautiful caring girl with a mischievous side.”

The investigation was packed with family and friends, all heartbroken over Sophie’s death. as reported by Teesside Live.

In a statement, her father Peter said: “Sophie was a vibrant, fun-loving girl who excelled in sports and was a wonderful gymnast. Her greatest achievement in life was becoming a mother.”

A friend called emergency services after Miss Watts sent a distressed text message on February 3.

When her friend tried to communicate with her, she did not respond and police They were called.

Officers forced open the door and the young mother was taken to the hospital.

The court heard that the tessider suffered from mood swings that lasted weeks at a time from 2019 and was under a lot of pressure.

Doctors prescribed quetiapine, which is used to treat schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and major depressive disorder.

Miss Watts was taken to the intensive care unit and treated, but deteriorated overnight and her death was verified at 12:50 am on February 4.

Teesside Chief Coroner Clare Bailey said she was satisfied that there was no third party involvement and ruled her death a suicide.

Teesside Live previously reported how the mother was known on Teesside, with hundreds of people sharing their memories of Sophie on social networks after his death.

About 150 people gathered at the South Gare last February to pay tribute to the former Aruba nightclub bartender.

Hundreds of orange balloons were released in Sophie’s memory as she was never without her orange eyeshadow.

Bethany Watts, Sophie’s sister, bravely spoke to Teesside Live at the time to pay tribute on behalf of her family.

Redcar’s mother described her sister as a “party girl through and through.”

She said: “She was the life and soul of every party and lit up any room she walked into.
