Tuberculosis Elimination Project Speeds Up in Two Indian States


This multi-pronged approach addresses all aspects of TB at its different stages. The TB campaign, as part of IOCL’s CSR, aims to ensure early identification of suspected TB and rapid diagnosis using highly sensitive diagnostic tests at the door.

The campaign also aims to provide sustainable and equitable access to free, high-quality TB treatment, care and support services to people in Uttar Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. Since Uttar Pradesh and Chhattisgarh share the highest TB case load among the states in India.

These MoUs are of immense importance in eliminating the threat of TB. As part of the comprehensive governance approach, both ministries have collaborated through this MoU.

This agreement will reinforce Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ending tuberculosis (TB) in India by 2025, five years before the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG).

Reiterating the commitment towards eliminating TB by 2025, the Union Minister highlighted the achievements of the Nikshay 2.0 initiative, which was recently launched by the President.

Within 15 days of launching the scheme, all 12 lahks of identified and licensed TB patients in India were covered by Nikshay Mitras, who provided them with nutrition kits and other support.
