According to the information, the new treatment for tuberculosis will be done with BPaLM. BPALM is a combination of four drugs: Bedaquiline, Pretomanid, Linezolid and Moxifloxacin. It is claimed that this drug has proven to be safer, more effective and better than the previous process of treating multidrug-resistant tuberculosis. Let us tell you that conventional treatment for multidrug-resistant tuberculosis may have to last for 20 months and there is a risk of serious side effects. It is believed that this step can prove to be very important in achieving the national goal of eliminating tuberculosis from the country.

What has changed in medicine?

Let us tell you that the new anti-TB drug Pretomanid has been included in the combination of Bedaquiline and Linezolid (with or without moxifloxacin). Pretomanid has already been approved and licensed by the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) in India. After getting approval from the Ministry of Health to start the treatment, 75,000 drug-resistant TB patients in the country will be able to benefit from it. Due to this, the patients will take less time to recover. Moreover, the cost of medicines will also reduce.
