TWICE have shared how they have come to open up to fans about their struggles with mental health throughout their career.
In a cover interview with NME ahead of their Comeback EP ‘Between 1 and 2’, the nine-member group shared how they decided to talk about their mental health in recent years. TWICE members Mina and Jeongyeon have previously withdrawn from group activities on separate occasions: the first in 2019 and the second. last in 2020 and 2021 – due to his struggles with anxiety.

“We work a lot. So I think realizing that not only body health but mental health is also important, it just came naturally to us.” NayeonTWICE’s eldest member said NME.
TWICE was initially hesitant to discuss their struggles with mental health in public, she added, especially since they interact with their fans often, “We released a lot of albums in a very short time. And in the process, we also communicate a lot with our fans. it is something unavoidable [we’d] hide what is happening to us individually.”
“Before, there was a time when we thought it was better not to talk about it,” Nayeon confessed. “But now we don’t think so. We think it’s much better to be open and honest about what’s happening to us.”
He also added that the group’s honesty was a result of TWICE’s desire to be honest with their fans, rather than a show of force. “I don’t want to say that we are honest because we are strong,” Nayeon revealed. “It comes from our conscious decision to be close to ONCE, to be honest with them.”
In another part of the interviewleader and main vocalist Jihyo talked about the meaning behind her new mini-album ‘Between 1&2’, which was released last Friday with the title track ‘Talk That Talk’. “This album is about our relationship with our fans,” she said. NME.
“If we release this album at the beginning of our years, we will probably [wouldn’t have] it sounded like true because there was no relationship. I mean, there was, but it wasn’t as sincere and deep as it is now.”
“Over seven years, our relationship has really deepened, it has become very sincere, and we have a great feeling of solidarity,” Jihyo shared.
