UP govt to assess mental health of students

luck now: The Uttar Pradesh government will now conduct an IQ and mental health assessment of state school students.

The assessment, according to officials, will help the government address the problems of primary and secondary students so that they can perform better in the future.

For this, the Bureau of Psychology, Prayagraj, has prepared a questionnaire.

There are 48 questions with five optional responses: agree, disagree, neutral, strongly agree, and strongly disagree.

This will be sent to the schools where the teachers will take the answers from the students and send them back to Prayagraj. Subsequently, the psychologists will evaluate your answers and prepare a report based on them.

Usha Chandra, Director of the Uttar Pradesh Bureau of Psychology, said: “Our sole aim is to ensure that primary and secondary school students perform well academically. Our experts have developed a questionnaire to assess the mental health and IQ of municipal school students. We will try to find out if students are facing any issues at the school level or if something is lagging behind on the parent front.”

The draft questions have been sent from the office of the Psychology Bureau to the Basic Education Officers of the 75 districts. Teachers will be responsible for assessing children’s mental health based on student responses.

Initially, the exercise will be held in 150 schools in each district. Gradually, it will be covered by all public schools.

Experts from the Office of Psychology will evaluate the student responses and produce a report suggesting steps to take to address the issues (if applicable). Subsequently, an exercise will be carried out to improve the learning skills of the students.
