Victoria Beckham Says Being ‘Thin’ Is ‘Old-Fashioned,’ Talks New Health and Fitness Journey

In a new interview with Funny, the 48-year-old opened up about her perspective on body image and her new fitness journey. The singer-turned-designer said being “thin” is no longer what most women want.

“It’s an old-fashioned attitude, wanting to be really skinny. I think women today want to look healthy and curvy. They want to have some breasts, and a butt,” she told the outlet, noting that personally, she wants “so good background as I can get”.

Beckham recalled a recent trip to Florida where he saw other women hugging their curves, hoping their daughter harpist is capable of doing the same one day. Along with 10-year-old Harper, Beckham is also a mother to brooklyn23, Romeo19, and Cross17, with husband david beckham.

“There are a lot of really curvy women in Miami, and they really belong to them, you know?” she said. “They walk down the Miami beach with not lots of clothes on, and they look fantastic. They show off their bodies with such confidence. I found both his attitude and his style really liberating. And as a mom, I loved that Harper was surrounded by women who really celebrated their curves and enjoyed how they looked.”

Beckham said that as she’s gotten older, she’s found a balance with her health and fitness journey and knows what works for her.

“It’s not about being a certain size,” he explained. “It’s about knowing who you are and being happy with who you are. I’ve found my own balance between wanting to have fun and being disciplined about eating healthy and exercising. When you’re younger you struggle with that balance.”

The mother of four told the outlet that what worked for her was changing her exercise routine from “tons of cardio” to lifting heavy weights five or six days a week with her husband and personal trainer, which made her feel proud of her body

“I’ve always been a little scared of weights, but I happen to love them,” she explained. “I even have those special gloves to wear! It’s nice to switch things up and keep your body guessing. I have a lot more muscle tone now.”
