His daughter Rebecca Lanis, 21, said her father was being radicalized by online conspiracy theories and dealing with mental health issues. She said she tried to check herself into a mental health facility on September 8, three days before the attack, but was sent home.

Rebecca wrote about what happened in a post she made on Reddit titled “My q-dad blew up and killed my family this morning.” She was referring to the QAnon theory. According to Rebecca, Igor believes unsubstantiated claims, such as a pedophile cult, that the elite masterminded the covid pandemic and stole the election from former President Donald Trump.

She claims that while Igor was never violent, his beliefs drove him to violent attack. She is warning people to seek help for family members who are linked to QAnon conspiracy theories, especially if they have access to weapons.
