Tech companies aren’t the only ones with fancy campuses, food trucks, and gyms, as walmart joins forces to encourage its 14,000 corporate employees to return to the office.

The campus is located between Central Avenue and 14th Street, near Highway 102 in downtown Bentonville, where the company’s former warehouses and office buildings were located. The grocery store giant has already torn down existing buildings and will replace them with 12 new office buildings, several service buildings, parking lots and green spaces throughout 2022.
The cost of the program was not announced.
“By demolishing and recycling those existing buildings and offices, we are revitalizing the existing expanse of land, contributing to economic growth in the area, and integrating with the broader Bentonville community development efforts,” the company said on its website.

The campus also includes places for employees to sit and work away from their desks, with Wi-Fi-enabled outdoor spaces, and to enjoy their lunch.
The campus also has many lakes that will collect and clean rainwater, and are surrounded by greenery.
The campus has a variety of services in addition to office buildings. It also has childcare facilities, a gym, nine covered parking lots, and will have food trucks and cafeterias dotted around the place.
The campus will feature many walking and biking trails to integrate the ‘natural beauty of our Northwest Arkansas region,’ as well as include ‘natural lighting, warm interior finishes, massive wood construction,’ and ‘views of trees, courtyards , landscapes and lakes’ from inside and outside the offices. Employees will have access to Wi-Fi enabled outdoor spaces that ‘support our flexible workplace’.
Like many other ‘campuses,’ Walmart will feature food truck plazas at various locations on campus; cafeterias and grab-and-go stations offering healthy, organic snacks and meals; and office pantries on each floor for those who prefer to bring their own food that will also have coffee and filtered water machines, food storage and tables.
The campus will also feature nine parking decks with a capacity of more than 1,000 spaces, each of which will be equipped with bicycle and electric vehicle parking. The large number of parking spaces is designed to ‘allow associates a five-minute walk to adjacent office and service buildings’.
It will also encourage employees to use sustainable means of transport such as bicycles to get around.
The retail giant said it is focusing on a greener, healthier space for workers to give employees “all the tools for wellness,” which it said its gym will “embrace.”
The 360,000-square-foot facility will be located on North Quad at the corner of Fifth and Southeast P Streets. The building also houses a cafeteria, a youth activity center, indoor and outdoor tennis courts, multipurpose courts, and fitness studios.
Walmart said it was “inspired” by the Alice L. Walton Integrative Health Institute in designing the center, saying it wanted to “integrate the mission and practices” of a “purpose-driven approach” to “prioritize health and well-being of each associate”. .’
Employees will also have natural lighting and locally sourced wood will be used in the buildings.

The nurseries will be located across from the gym and the 73,000-square-foot facility can accommodate up to 500 children. When the doors open, it will accept ages six weeks through pre-K ages, then eventually allow school-age children through the summer and after school. Axios informed.
