A lack of the nutrient can actually affect our DNA, says the health site Medical News Today.

“When the cell reproduces, it must first make a copy of its DNA. Hair growth depends on proper DNA synthesis and vitamin B12, among other nutrients,” the site says.
When it is missing a lot, this process stops, which could lead to hair loss. This can also occur through the reduction of red blood cells that carry oxygen to the hair follicles.
