Watch: Raphoe student pens song in aid of mental health charities

Deele College student Ellie-Rose Henry wrote a song to raise awareness for people struggling with mental health.

The Raphoe High School junior wrote the song ‘Monster Inside My Brain’ and created a GoFundMe to raise money for a host of charities.

Look the following video:

Ellie Rose wrote on her GoFundMe:

‘Hello, my name is Ellie Rose Henry; I am a 15 year old singer/songwriter from Derry/Donegal. I recently wrote a song about mental health, suicide prevention and addictions to try to help people suffering from these illnesses and raise awareness.

I wanted to reach out and let all generations know that they are not alone and that these fantastic charities can help. I set up this GoFundMe page to help the charities that support me on this song. The following charities include:

Foyle-search and rescue
Hurt
Cheer up
BOW
samaritans
Life line
Me4Mental
external CCIS
PIPS
I chose to support these charities because of the vast amount of work they do in the city, saving lives of individuals and families. I would be very grateful for any donation to these charities, no matter how big or small.

I can make a difference for these unfunded organizations that do a lot of work around mental health, suicide prevention, and addiction. I hope that my song and video can help raise awareness and connect with other people who are suffering to let them know that they are not alone and that help is always there.”
