Watch Terrence Ruffin’s Heavy Push Day During His Prep to Defend the Arnold Classic Title | BarBend

With just over a month to go Arnold Sports Festival 2022, presenting the classic arnold, which will take place from March 3 to 6, 2022, in Columbus, OH, the defense classic physique champion Terrence Ruffin is fine-tuning its aesthetic. With an emphasis on moving heavy weights during his preparation, Ruffin changes his scenario to training in different gyms.

In addition to his recent training session at west side bar, Ruffin performed a heavy push day to build your chest with hypertrophy trainer Joe Bennett in what is referred to as being his home gym – embellished with a whole dumbbell rack, power rack, several banks, accessory equipment, and more. Ruffin follows up with seated cable flyes to get his “chest pump” going. The use of a vertical bench allows more stability and, therefore, the ability to increase weight. He tripled that movement with more presses on the high incline press machine and placing increases in Y hit the back.

If you can make that cable… straight, that’s your best option because it will be heavier there.

Bennett regularly talks about exercise setups on his social media, where he advocates setups that align with his structure. For example, when Ruffin made his tricep extensions through cable crossings, the position of the arm that performs the concentric portion of repetition is where your arm is naturally positioned. You’re not forcing your elbow to stay too tight or too wide relative to your body—you’re maintaining a stable position and executing the movement with a focus on contracting and aligning your joints.

Ruffin, who is known to be an elite poserHe practices his pose three times a day. He thinks the judges will have to make a lot of close decisions, which will require the athletes on stage to keep each required pose for an extended period.

Holding those positions on stage can take a lot endurance and training to get used to holding them longer than your competition could be the difference between retaining or conceding your Arnold Classic crown. We’ll see if Ruffin’s attention to detail and commitment to mounting resistance pays off in the first week of March.
