A mental health nurse has been named to England’s weightlifting team for the upcoming Commonwealth Games.
Cyrille Tchatchet II, who works at the Black Country Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, will compete in Birmingham this summer.
She previously competed at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow for her home country of Cameroon and last year took part in the Tokyo Olympics on a team representing refugees.
At the upcoming games, Mr. Tchatchet II will be one of 400 Team England athletes.
On confirmation of his selection, Mr Tchatchet II said: “It is amazing to have qualified and been selected to represent England to compete in a sport that I have loved since I was 14 years old.
“Qualifying for the Commonwealth Games is a huge achievement and I am looking forward to representing England for the first time.”
Joining the UK Register as a Mental Health Nurse in 2019, Mr Tchatchet II currently works for Black Country Healthcare, which provides specialist mental health, learning disabilities and community healthcare services to the people of Black Country, Birmingham .
Previously, he was the Lead Physical Health Nurse for the Harrow Inpatient and Community Mental Health Teams at Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust.
The 2022 Commonwealth Games start on July 28 and end on August 8.
