1. Food allergies trigger anaphylaxis, which typically occurs minutes to hours after consuming the allergic food. There are four main allergens that can trigger anaphylaxis, including nuts, dairy, protein, and wheat. It affects the entire body system that can be classified as GROSSC.
2. First of all, it affects the Gastrointestinal system giving rise to stomach cramps, vomiting, abdominal pain and diarrhea.
3. Secondly, it affects the respiratory system and causes a runny nose, watery eyes, allergic rhinitis and asthma.
4. Thirdly, it affects the oral system causing tingling in the mouth, swelling of the lips, mouth and tongue.
5. Fourth, it affects the skin, causing hives, itching, burning, redness, and swelling.
6. Fifth, systemic symptoms affect the whole body, which means that one may have swelling, anxiety, palpitations and itchiness all over the body.
7. Finally, it also affects circulation. During a severe allergic reaction, people may suffer from cardiovascular diseases, such as rapid heartbeat, tachycardia, and may also faint during the manifestation of the allergic reaction.
