World Hemophilia Day: Hemophilia Day is being celebrated today i.e. 17th March. The purpose of celebrating this day is to create awareness among people about hemophilia. Actually hemophilia is a serious problem. Although it is found in very few people, but whoever has this problem, the process of clotting of blood slows down in his body. It takes time to stop bleeding after injury or cut in any part of the body. Many times due to bleeding and if the person is not treated on time, he dies. This disease is seen more in men than in women. One out of every 5000 males born in India suffers from hemophilia. That is, every year about 1300 children are born with hemophilia in our country. Let’s know everything about hemophilia in detail…
What is hemophilia?
Hemophilia is a type of bleeding disorder. This disease is caused by the deficiency of a substance called thromboplastic in the blood. Thromboplastic is a substance that has the ability to quickly convert blood into a clot. It is a kind of genetic disease, in this problem the blood flowing outside the body does not clot and it proves to be fatal. In people suffering from this disease, the clotting factor i.e. the formation of blood clots stops, while in normal people, when there is an injury, the components necessary for the formation of blood clots combine with the platelets present in the blood and thus the blood Stops flowing automatically. But people who suffer from hemophilia have very little or no clotting factor, so their blood continues to flow for a long time.
symptoms of hemophilia
- bleeding after injection
- bleeding under the skin
- frequent nose bleeds
- bleeding gums in the mouth
- Bleeding in the head after delivery of children
- seeing blood in the stool or vomit
- Bleeding that doesn’t stop after an injury
types of hemophilia
Hemophilia diseases are generally of two types.
Hemophilia A-This is its common type. In this, there is a deficiency of factor 8 required for clotting in the patient’s blood. Haemophilia A occurs in about one person out of 5000.
Hemophilia B- Hemophilia is also a less common disease. In this, there is a deficiency of Factor Sector 9 to form clots. It is also called Christmas disease. Haemophilia B occurs in about 1 in 20,000 people.
What is the treatment of hemophilia
Replacing the missing clotting factor is considered the best way to treat hemophilia. With the help of this method, it helps in normalizing the process of blood clotting. Under this process, artificially prepared clotting factors are injected into the patient’s veins.
