When defeating Ronnie became more important
For Jay, “second place is still second best to the best boy in the world.” For him, winning the title of Mr. Olympia was not only important. He was eager to win Ronnie. Contemplating his thoughts after retiring, the four-time winner of the Mr. Olympia title reveals, “Now here there is so much clarity. “
Elaborating further, he adds that he repeats his “run over and over again.” Appreciating social media, he says his fans remind him of days gone by. Fans don’t talk about all of his other achievements as much as they say: “You’re the guy who beat Ronnie Coleman.”

Throughout his career, he could never control his temptation to defeat ‘The King’. Realizing it later, Jay acknowledges, “My whole career consisted of beating the only Type.”
The realization came only after Ronnie Coleman retired.

Later in life, Jay realized that his career began to pick up pace at a time when Ronnie was gradually retiring. Ronnie’s presence on stage motivated Cutler to get over it. So when Ronnie quit, he wasn’t as “motivated as before.
Jay also credits his consistency in second place. Like his rival competitor Ronnie, Jay also enjoys a large following. Fans really enjoyed Ronnie and Jay’s rivalry. It was an era unto itself, and as Jay aptly cites, “It will not happen again.”
