In January of this year, Rachel Houghton, 37, believed she had suffered an exercise-related back injury.
She tried to control her pain at home for several weeks until it became too much to bear. After coughing up blood on February 14, she visited her GP.
What followed was a flurry of evidence and devastating news.

Rachel was diagnosed with stage 4 incurable lung cancer, which has now spread to her lymph nodes, pelvis and spine.
While many would rightly feel defeated, Rachel has shown impressive strength and positivity, spreading awareness of her illness through her Instagram account @houghton3348.
Unfortunately, her diagnosis has put a lot of financial pressure on her family, which is where her colleagues at Homecare Independent Living have decided to step in.
As a dear member of your staff, HCIL and its dedicated charity iCARE have organized a raffle, with a trip to New York for two or the cash equivalent up for grabs.
The draw will take place on Friday 27th May 2022 live in Sligo with Rachel and her family.
