Worker compensation due to mental stress rises 60% over 10 years in Japan

The number of people subject to compensation for mental illnesses caused by stress at work rose more than 60% in Japan during the decade to fiscal year 2019, according to a white paper on death and suicide from overwork.

Cases involving women have increased by almost 80% over the same period, and the annual report notes that sexual harassment is at the root of many cases.
