Yolanda Hadid spoke about the important advice she gives her children to manage their mental health, according to PEOPLE.
“I think self-care is number one,” the 58-year-old tells the outlet exclusively as she talks about her work with Project Healthy Minds, a new mental health technology nonprofit that aims to make make it easier and faster for young people. find mental health resources. “I care about them, and not just my own children, I care about the entire next generation that is under the spell of social media.”
Yolanda shares her three children with her ex-husband and real estate mogul Mohamed Hadid, whom she was married to between 1994 and 2000.
“Take a walk,” Hadid advises after celebrating World Mental Health Day during a fireside chat with Project Health Minds. “Exercise is very important. I think healthy eating habits are very important.”
The former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills has previously admitted to going through her own mental health issues. After losing her mother Ans van den Herik at age 78, Hadid was so depressed that she experienced a relapse of Lyme disease.
“I hadn’t felt that kind of depression in 20 years or something, after I broke my back 20 years ago,” shares the former model, who took a nine-month hiatus from social media over the summer. I didn’t deal with the extent that I felt right now.”
Yolanda, who is now the grandmother of Gigi’s two-year-old daughter Khai, has confessed to feeling a lot after moving from California to a secluded farm in Pennsylvania and finding love with her boyfriend, Joseph Jingoli.
