After this incident, a very disturbing investigation report by the Indian Medical Association, namely the IMA, was released. A study by the Indian Medical Association found that a third, or 35.5 percent, of doctors do not feel safe during night shifts.

Another study found that nearly 70% of doctors faced workplace violence. According to the report, the IMA Kerala State team conducted a survey of 3,885 doctors across India in August 2024.

Among them, the number of female doctors is higher. Some doctors said they kept knives and pepper spray to protect themselves. 3,885 physicians from 22 states participated in this IMA online survey, 63% of whom are female physicians. 85% of the young doctors concerned showed more fear. The feeling of insecurity is more pronounced among doctors aged 20 to 30, mostly interns or PG trainees.

No separate room for night duty

45% of doctors stated in the survey that they did not have a separate duty room for night duty.
