Exercising is good for the whole body. Weights such as dumbbells, barbells, and bars can be used to perform certain exercises to help you tone your body. In case you do not have any of these available, then you can use water bottles and heavy objects that are on hand in your house, to perform strength training exercises. Let’s look at some exercises that can be done with dumbbells to build strength and keep your body fit.
goblet squats
You can do it using one large dumbbell or two small ones depending on how much weight you can carry. Stand up straight and hold the dumbbell close to your chest. Now, start squatting down holding it in the same position. Keep your back straight and sit up fully with your knees bent. Put pressure on your heels as you stand up. This exercise helps tone your thighs and upper arm as it puts pressure on both.
shoulder hold
If you are a beginner, start by sitting in a seat with a back. Now, take a dumbbell in each hand and bend your hands 90 degrees to the sides, keeping them in line with your shoulders. Now, push them up by joining the two above your head and slowly bringing them to the 90 degree position. You will feel pressure on your wrist and upper arm as you do the exercise. Helps reduce excess fat in the arms.
triceps kickback
Begin by standing up and leaning forward slightly. Now, she holds a dumbbell in each hand. Now keep your upper arm stationary and push your lower arm forward and down. Don’t move your shoulders. This will help you gain strength in your lower hand by building strong muscles.
lunges
Lunges are a great way to build core. However, you can do lunges while holding a bit of weight for better results. Stand up straight and hold the dumbbells at your side. Now, keep your right foot in front and bend by bending both legs from the knee. Now bring your left leg forward and your right leg back. Repeat at least 20 times with each leg. You will feel pressure in your core, thighs, and hips as you do the exercise.
Overhead triceps extension
Hold a single dumbbell by both heads vertically above your head. Stand up straight and now, bend your elbows behind you so that your hands go towards the back of your head. Don’t move your shoulders. This helps strengthen the triceps muscles.
