Fast Food Snack: We all know that our mood largely depends on our eating habits. A new study on human snacking habits has revealed a strong link between state of mind and willingness to snack. 72% of Indians admitted that they eat snacks when they are happy and it is almost the same among both men and women.
While 74% admitted to it, 70% of men agreed to do so. The study found that 70% of Indians feel happy and energized after consuming snacks. The study was conducted across North, South, West and East regions and covered 10 cities namely Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Delhi, Jaipur, Lucknow, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad and Bangalore.
72% of Indians eat snacks when they are happy
The report found that 56% agreed to snack more when depressed and 40% of Indians believe that snacks help to come out of boredom and improve mood. 81% of Delhiites eat more breakfast when they are happy and so do other major city dwellers like Hyderabad (77%), Chennai (77%), Kolkata (75%), Mumbai (68%), Ahmedabad (68%) . 67%), Pune (66%), Bengaluru (66%), Lucknow (62%) and Jaipur (61%). 60% and above people living in Delhi, Lucknow, Kolkata, Chennai often have breakfast when they are sad. The Rajasthan city of Jaipur ranks last in this category with less than 50% of its population coming on this list.
Consumer study reveals
It seems that the craze for ready-to-eat snacks has entered families as well. Reports reveal that more than half of the parents in India consider snacks as mini meals. Not only this, more than one-third of parents in India have started considering snacks as a complete meal. 34% of men and 35% of women have agreed to this.
44% of Indians believe that snacks make it easier for households that do not have a maid or cook, with 60% believing that it is mostly used by young and unmarried people. A total of 2815 people responded to the survey, out of which 25% were from North India, 36% from South India, 25% from the western part of the country and 14% from the eastern part of the country. All India sample consisted of 42% unmarried people and 52% married people.
