Miracle in the world of science, IIT researcher scanned fetal brain

Fetal brain: IIT Madras has achieved a new feat in the world of science. It became the first institute in the world to capture high-resolution 3D images of the fetal brain. With this achievement, India’s stature will further increase in the field of brain mapping. The data from these 3D images of the fetal brain was named Dharani. Which is an open source. Which means that all researchers can study this data. Let us explain the meaning of the fetal brain. The brain of a human fetus growing in its mother’s womb.

This is how the research was carried out

For the first time in the world, 5,132 brain sections have been captured using cutting-edge brain mapping technology. This technology was developed at the Sudha Gopalakrishnan Brain Center of IIT itself. It is believed that with the help of these images, the field of neuroscience will advance even further. Health problems affecting the brain can also be treated. An entire multidisciplinary team from IIT Madras has been prepared for this research. In which researchers from Australia, USA, Romania, South Africa, including India, were included.

This research was led by Mohan Shankar Shiv Prakash, director of the Sudha Gopalakrishnan Brain Centre. This research is considered very important for the study related to brain development. An effort will be made to understand what changes occur in the brain from the moment the child grows up. Brain disorders related to learning disabilities and autism can also be understood.

Will be published in a special issue

The results of this research will be published in the special issue of the Journal of Comparative Neurology. Commenting on this research, principal scientific advisor to the central government, Ajay Kumar Sood, said that India is emerging as a leader in mapping a fitter brain. For the first time, this research was possible thanks to cutting-edge technology. This research will prove to be a global resource for researchers around the world.
