How To Lose Weight During Navratri: Today is the 5th day of Navratri. Many people have kept a fast for the whole 9 days to please the 9 goddesses. During the fasting of Navratri, most people follow a fruit diet, that is, they consume more and more fruits. Apart from this, they also consume foods like Sama rice, buckwheat flour, sago, Rajgira, water chestnut flour, potato, colocasia, pumpkin, sweet potato, gourd, cucumber, carrot, spinach.
Wheat, semolina, rice, corn flour, maida and pulses are avoided during Navratri fasting. If you choose some healthy food during Navratri fast or stay away from unhealthy things, not only can your blood sugar and cholesterol level come under control, but your weight can also decrease rapidly. 1. Choose khichdi or vrat flour bread instead of puris and pakodi: It is forbidden to consume grains like rice and wheat during fasting. However, instead of those grains, you can consume buckwheat flour, water chestnut flour, Rajgira flour, Sama or Sabudana. But keep in mind that instead of making puri, pakodi or halwa, make khichdi or rotis from them.
2. Do not fry potatoes, eat fruits: Try to avoid eating oily food during the fast. They may look tasty, but eating them during fasting can increase your weight faster instead of reducing it. That’s why prefer fruits instead of potato fries.
3. Eat plenty of fruits: Eat plenty of fruits during the fast. Because not only will you get vitamins, minerals and fiber from them, but it will also help you stay active throughout the day.
4. Avoid eating root vegetables in excess: Many people eat root vegetables like potato, yam, sweet potato, colocasia and pumpkin during fasting. These are all starchy vegetables, which are rich in fibre, B vitamins and minerals. Although they contain a lot of calories, so avoid consuming them in excess.
5. Include milk and dairy in the diet: Consume milk or dairy products like paneer, curd, buttermilk and ghee to meet your protein and calcium requirements.
6. Make distance from tea and coffee: Coffee and tea dehydrate the body. This is the reason why they should be avoided. You can drink lemonade, coconut water, buttermilk, milkshake or plain water to keep yourself hydrated.
7. Reduce Sugar Intake: Avoid using refined sugar while making kheer or halwa or anything else sweet.
8. Avoid overeating while breaking the fast. Avoid eating too much at one go immediately after breaking the fast. Increase your dose gradually with a light meal.
