Are Silver Anklets Beneficial For Health? Study Reveals

In the total silver market, the amount of anklets is more than 34%. Indians like to wear gold. However, people do not wear anklets made of yellow metal as they are never worn on the feet. It is because they represent the goddess of wealth and prosperity. Because of this, the anklet and the toe ring are made of silver.

Amit Gilra, associate director of Ogmont Gold for All, said: In the southern part of India, silver is also used as a gift and as sacred objects of worship during children’s naming, engagement ceremonies and during major Indian festivals like Diwali and Holi.

According to ancient Indian astrologers, silver is associated with the moon. It is believed that silver originated from the eyes of Lord Shiva due to which silver is a symbol of prosperity. So whoever wears silver is perfected with prosperity according to traditions.

More than ornament, less than medicine

While the anklet is of major importance in Indian culture, it also has a prominent place in the ancient cultures of Egypt and the Middle East. This is because it goes beyond beauty and benefits in aspects of health and overall well-being.

  • Silver is a reactive metal and it reflects and repulses the energy emanating from a person’s body. Most of our energy leaves our body from the hands and feet and metals like silver, bronze act as a barrier, which helps to bring energy back into our body. This helps in gaining more positivity and enthusiasm. According to Ayurveda and modern science, silver reacts well with the energy of the earth, while gold reacts well with the energy and aura of the body. Therefore, silver is worn as an anklet or toe ring while gold is used to adorn the upper body.
  • Historically, silver has been known for its antibacterial properties. Thousands of years ago, when sailors were on a long voyage carrying silver coins with them, they rested in their water bottles. They drank silver-inspired water because it was a good disinfectant. Silver ions destroy the bacterial lining and this is one of the main reasons why women in Tier 2 and 3 cities also invest in silver anklets.
  • In addition, women spend a lot of time standing in the kitchen and doing chores around the house. They often end up with swollen or sore feet. Pain travels all the way from the lower part of the spine to the feet. Silver helps in blood circulation and because it is on our feet, the foundation of our body, it soothes the weakness of our feet.
