Australian Clinical Labs said Thursday Medlab The pathology profession suffered a data breach that affected the health records and credit card information of about 223,000 patients and staff.
It’s the latest in a series of hacks to rock corporate Australia, after the country’s biggest health insurer. Medibank And No. 2 telco Optus also suffered a breach that compromised millions of customers’ data.
ACL said its affected data included more than 17,500 personal medical and health records, more than 28,000 credit card numbers and names of individuals, as well as more than 128,600. Medicare numbers
“To date, there is no evidence of misuse or any solicitation of any information from Medlab or ACL,” he said, adding that the compromised Medlab server had been de-commissioned. ACL’s extensive systems and databases were unaffected, it added.
