A leading dietician has revealed exactly what she would buy when browsing the “health food aisle” at the supermarket.

The shelves in this aisle are filled with products that are considered “healthier” compared to others, such as sugar-free chocolate, low-carb, and protein powder.

But there are some items that Rebecca would avoid.

Sydney’s mom, Rebecca Gawthorne, better known as Nourished Naturally on Instagram, shared a video detailing exactly what she would buy and avoid when navigating the “health food aisle.”

The shelves in this aisle are filled with products that are considered “healthier” compared to others, including sugar-free chocolate, low-carb, and protein powder.

Rebecca picked up first a bag of toasted pumpkin seeds and then a package of sugar-free cookies and compared them.

She said pumpkin seeds are “rich in healthy fats and a good source of nutrients like magnesium and zinc” and recommends this purchase.

By comparison, the chocolate chip cookies were ‘too processed’ and she would prefer a ‘regular cookie without all the additives’.

Rebecca also suggested buying virgin coconut oil infrequently.

‘Next we have virgin coconut oil. This is an overhyped health product high in saturated fat and I prefer to buy other oils as my main cooking oil,” he said, adding, “I wouldn’t buy this on a regular basis.”
