Early Signs of Heart Disease: Chest Pain and Leg Swelling, 6 Symptoms to Watch Out for

Cardiovascular problems can manifest themselves in several ways. These signs could be an indication that something is wrong with your heart. Ignoring these vital signs such as fatigue, chest pain, arrhythmia, sweating, and shortness of breath can contribute to serious complications over time. Generally, various heart problems develop gradually and may not have visible symptoms at first. This can make it difficult to detect these heart-related problems early. People are advised not to neglect these warning signs as a minor inconvenience or try to treat them with home remedies. This can only worsen your condition and the health of your heart. Recognizing these symptoms early is essential for timely intervention and treatment. Early detection can significantly help prevent complications while reducing the risk of multiple heart problems, such as a heart attack or stroke.

6 signs that may indicate heart disease

Dr Anup Mahajani, Senior Consultant Interventional Cardiologist, Medicover Hospital Kharghar, Navi Mumbai, spoke to India.com and shared six early signs that could indicate possible heart problems.

  1. Fatigue: This is when someone feels extremely tired or weak even after getting enough rest or sleep. One may experience difficulty performing easy and simple tasks, such as climbing stairs or even walking much harder than usual. This tiredness does not tend to get better or go away while it makes you feel exhausted. Unusual tiredness, especially in women, can be an indication of multiple heart problems.
  2. Chest pain: Vital signs such as chest pain can vary from person to person depending on their condition. Chest pain can feel like tightness, tightness, pain, and pressure in a certain part of the heart. Some may describe this pain as if a heavy weight was being placed on their chest. The pain may be frequent and last a few minutes or hours.
  3. Shortness of breath: You may experience shortness of breath even when you are physically active or simply resting. Sometimes you may also feel like you are suffocating. This is a crucial sign that your heart is not pumping blood more efficiently than expected. If other symptoms, such as chest pain, accompany shortness of breath, immediately consult a doctor for timely intervention.
  4. Irregular heartbeat: Also known as arrhythmia. You may feel as if your heart has skipped a beat or is racing. One may notice heart irregularities even when resting or engaging in physical activities. These sudden irregularities can make you feel anxious or uncomfortable. Remember that arrhythmia can be a sign of several underlying heart problems, such as stroke, heart failure, or angina.
  5. Leg swelling: Some may notice abrupt pain in the legs, particularly in areas such as the ankles or feet. They can swell or swell, which can cause discomfort when walking and restrict mobility. This particular swelling mainly occurs when the heart cannot pump blood effectively. This can also cause a buildup of fluid in the body. It may be an indication of heart failure or other cardiovascular diseases that should be consulted with the doctor immediately.
  6. Pain in the arm, jaw, and neck: Heart attack sufferers may also experience pain in the arm, jaw, and neck. These signs may indicate that something is wrong with your heart. Instead of delaying timely intervention, it is advisable to consult a doctor. These are some of the critical signs of heart problems that should not be ignored at all.
