Breast cancer in girls aged 20
Breast cancer is spreading rapidly among women ages 20 to 49 in the United States, according to a study published in JAMA Network Open. The research team analyzed data from more than 217,000 American women with breast cancer from 2000 to 2019. In 2000, the incidence of breast cancer among women aged 20 to 49 was approximately 64 cases per 100,000 people.
Over the next 16 years, this rate increased to approximately 0.24% per year. Until 2016, there were 66 per 1 lakh cases of breast cancer, but after that, this figure increased significantly. Suddenly, this rate increased to 3.76% per year. In 2019, that is, in just three years, this rate reached 74 per 1 lakh.
Black women are at higher risk of breast cancer
The risk of breast cancer has increased among women under 50 over the past two decades, according to a study by researchers at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. An interesting aspect of the data also revealed that the risk of breast cancer is much higher among black women. In particular, black women aged 20 to 29 have a 53% higher risk of breast cancer than others.

Breast cancer situation in India
In 2018, a total of 1,62,468 cases of breast cancer were reported in India. Among them, 87,090 women died. The breast cancer survival rate in India is 60%, which is 20% lower than in America. Breast cancer in the country is increasing rapidly not only in cities but also in rural areas. Even in India, young women fall prey to this cancer. Due to the delay in treatment, the risk of death also increases. The main causes of the increase in this cancer are tobacco, alcohol, obesity, inappropriate lifestyle and pollution.
