Gut Health: 5-Step Morning Routine for Good Digestion

Gut health: “Good gut health is important” is a statement we have often heard. The word ‘gut health’ also sounds fancy, right? But how many of us really understand the true meaning of this? Good gut health means having the right amount of good bacteria or microbes in your digestive tract. It would further help in gastrointestinal health. While these microorganisms are ‘micro’ but they have a huge impact on our overall health. From digestion, to the immune system, to mood, gut health affects the body as a whole. In addition, gut microbes are also essential for survival.

There are several ways to maintain good digestion. A routine helps maintain discipline, and discipline goes a long way. To maintain good gut health, here is a morning routine to follow.

  1. Start your day with a glass of water: Improves the digestive process and reduces the chances of dehydration.
  2. Consider a supplement: Prebiotics are foods that promote the growth of beneficial bacteria in the intestine. Prebiotics are found in foods such as apples, artichokes, bananas, barley, oats, chia and flax seeds, garlic and onions, root vegetables, beans, and legumes.
  3. Start with Pro Gut Health foods: High-fiber foods are essential for digestion. Include more vegetables and fruits, nuts and seeds in your diet to improve the digestive process.
  4. Do exercise: Exercise is extremely important as it helps with the metabolism process. A good metabolism also means good digestion.
  5. Meditation: It is a good way to practice mindfulness and will also help relieve stress that is not good for the gut.
  6. Limit your intake of sugar and processed foods: Refined sugar can alter the intestinal microbiota. A diet high in processed foods and added sugars can decrease the number of good bacteria in your gut and feed the bad ones.
