Did you know that Aedes mosquitoes, which also carry diseases like Zika and chikungunya, carry dengue? Typically, 24 to 48 hours after your fever is gone, you’ll start to see warning signs of severe dengue.
Dengue cases have been rising for a few months, but in recent days there has been a markedly higher increase in incidence among children, adults, and the elderly. Aedes aegypti mosquitoes, which bite more frequently during the day than at night, transmit vector-borne dengue through their bite.
Many people who contract the virus for the first time do not show any symptoms of dengue, and it is possible that a person who shows signs of dengue for the first time is actually experiencing a second attack, which is often more severe than the first. It is crucial to watch your symptoms, and the first signs of dengue should not be ignored.
4 SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF DENGUE THAT YOU CANNOT IGNORE
- Constant fever: A persistent fever may indicate dengue symptoms. It includes bruises on the skin, blood in the urine, and blood in the stool, and is also known as seven-day fever. People may also have a high fever, severe headache, tiredness, and muscle and joint discomfort.
- Rashes: A rash, which often appears two to five days after the onset of the fever, is another identifying symptom. Bruising of the skin may occur, indicating internal bleeding under the epidermis. These rashes resemble measles in appearance, however they differ from chickenpox in that they recur.
- Nausea and vomiting: Other symptoms may also occur, such as pain behind the eyes, nausea, vomiting, and little bleeding from the gums or nose. These are some of the intermediate warning signs of dengue, which means that if you don’t get immediate medical help, your condition could worsen overnight.
- Internal bleeding: Thrombocytopenia (destruction of the platelet count) results from the advanced symptoms of dengue fever. Also, it causes severe intestinal bleeding, which causes blood to pass through the stool.
There is no specific therapy for dengue, so stabilizing the patient requires minimizing severe symptoms. Never ignore a long-term illness or persistent symptoms because they can reduce the chance of death if treated quickly.
