Cholera vaccine : Bharat Biotech is manufacturing an oral vaccine to rid the world of cholera. After getting approval from DCGI, Bharat Biotech International Limited has started working on it. The name of this oral vaccine is Hillchol. According to reports, around 3,600 Indian participants have taken part in the third phase clinical trial. It has been found that this vaccine is completely safe and its effect is not less than the existing vaccine.
Let us tell you that the demand for Oral Cholera Vaccine (OCV) worldwide is over 10 million doses. Only 6 crore doses of OCV are available worldwide. The new vaccine can play an important role in filling the gap of four crore doses.

Globally, cholera deaths have been on the rise since 2021. However, its treatment is possible. Between the beginning of 2023 and March this year, 824,479 cases of cholera were reported in 31 countries, of which 5,900 died.
