Nose health problems: The nose is a very important part of our body, which helps us breathe, smell and speak. But do you know that the nose also provides a lot of information regarding health. A new study suggests that your loss of smell may be a sign of at least 139 or more serious health problems.
In fact, this was revealed in a study published in Frontiers in Molecular Neuroscience. These diseases include Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, heart disease, COVID-19 and others.
The nose indicates the state of health
According to the study, if we lose the aroma or smell of something, it can be a symptom of many diseases. For example, in people with Parkinson’s disease, their ability to smell diminishes. At the same time, in cases of Alzheimer’s there may be problems with concentration, in which the nose may also be affected.
What does the study say?
Other research has linked odor to inflammation. According to the study, when researchers looked at 139 medical conditions associated with loss of smell, they all included some form of inflammation. Michael Lyon, author and professor emeritus at the Charlie Dunlap School of Biological Sciences at the University of California, Irvine, said that improving the ability to smell can improve adults’ memory by 226 percent.
