Intuitive India announces study findings of RAPN, using da Vinci surgical system – ET HealthWorld

Bengaluru: Intuitive announced the findings of IndiaThe largest collaborative, multi-institutional study of robot-assisted partial nephrectomy (RAPN) using the da vinci surgical system. In collaboration with 14 government and private centers across India, the study supports the use of robotic-assisted partial nephrectomy (RAPN) in surgery for kidney masses. This retrospective study used data from 800 patient cases spanning the last 12 years, marking an important milestone in the Indian landscape for urological care.

The objective of this study, the first of its kind in India, was to validate the value and benefits of using the da Vinci. surgical system in RAPN in India, providing comprehensive information on the efficacy and safety of the procedure in various patient demographics and tumor complexities.

“In India, there is a need for robust, high-quality data on the outcomes of robotic-assisted partial nephrectomy tailored to our population,” said Dr. Sudhir Rawal, director and head of the Genito Uro Oncology Services Department at the Cancer Institute. Rajiv Gandhi and Research Centre.

“The results of our study help fill this gap by providing information on the efficacy and safety of robotic-assisted partial nephrectomy in various patient demographics and tumor complexities. This will help give trained surgeons the confidence to choose the surgery.” Robot-assisted for renal masses, to obtain better results. clinical results“said Dr. Rawal.

Swati Gupta, Marketing Director, Intuitive India, said: “The data demonstrates the potential of the da Vinci system to improve patient outcomes for robotic-assisted partial nephrectomy in India and lays the foundation for future advancements in robotic surgery across the country. Collaboration with leading institutions and surgeons in India has provided valuable and specific information for the Indian patient population. In the future, this knowledge will be crucial to perfecting surgical techniques and expanding access to minimally invasive robotic surgery for more patients. “We are proud to have contributed to this important research and look forward to seeing its positive impact on patient care in India.”Key findings of the study include:

Many problems can occur due to increase in toxins in the body, get relief from these measures

Perioperative outcomes: RAPN using da Vinci demonstrated favorable perioperative outcomes, with a median operative time of 180 minutes and median estimated blood loss of 100 mL. The mean warm ischemia time (WIT) was 22.7 minutes, with a low conversion rate to open surgery (0.4 percent) and a manageable complication rate where most complications were minor grade.

Functional outcomes: RAPN using da Vinci showed promising functional outcomes, with mean serum creatinine levels and estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) stabilizing postoperatively. Trifecta and pentafecta results were achieved in 61.4 percent and 60 percent of patients, respectively, highlighting the effectiveness of the procedure in preserving kidney function.

Comparative Analysis: The study compared favorably with international benchmarks, demonstrating comparable results to previous multicenter analyzes while also reflecting the real-world scenario with centers of different volumes and surgeon experience.

“While partial nephrectomy has become the preferred treatment method for renal masses, our study supports the effectiveness of using the da Vinci system in India for these procedures,” said Dr. Rawal. “By establishing a comprehensive database of clinical outcomes, we aim to pave the way for future advances in this area tailored to our population.”

The results presented in this study demonstrate strong support for an advanced technology, RAPN, establishing its safety and effectiveness. This study shows and reinforces the value and benefits of RAPN to the broader healthcare community.
