“But I like food. I have always been surrounded by food. I grew up on a farm, I worked on a farm that produced pigs.

“You have to understand food and I’m very passionate about ingredients.”

Instead, the star decided to watch what she drank, swapping typically caloric fizzy drinks for water.

“The way I lost weight is by cutting back on soda. I drink a lot of water, two liters every day. I still eat exactly the same.

“Water is the key. As I get older, I realized that I don’t need to go to the gym, I’m working. [in the kitchen] all the time anyway.

“Water keeps your brain healthy and it keeps your skin healthy and it keeps you focused. It’s crazy when you give up soda how much more alive your brain feels, it’s very strange.”

As for diet, the chef once revealed that “it’s not the consumption of butter” that is responsible for the weight gain.

“It’s the prepared food, it’s the packaged food, the hidden salt, the hidden fat, that’s the problem in this country.”

“It’s the fact that not as many people cook in the UK as they do in France, Italy or Spain,” he told The Herald.
