Lung cancer in non-smokers: When it comes to cancer, there is a fear in the heart. Lung cancer is spreading and is the third most common cancer in America and Asian countries. The American Cancer Society said in a report that after prostate cancer in men and breast cancer in women, the number of lung cancer patients is increasing the fastest.
It is generally said that lung cancer is caused by smoking. But recently, the American Cancer Society has stated that even those who do not smoke are increasingly becoming victims of lung cancer. In such a situation, the question arises, besides smoking, what are the reasons why lung cancer is spreading rapidly among humans.
Lung cancer cases increase among non-smokers
The study states that in India, America and many Asian countries, lung cancer patients are coming forward who do not smoke and have never tried any medicines. This new theory of non-smoking lung cancer patients is surprising. But in recent years, after studying reasons other than smoking, it has been found that even if one does not smoke beedi cigarettes, people fall prey to lung cancer.
scary reality
The American Cancer Society states that about 80 percent of total lung cancer deaths are caused by smokers. Out of this, 20 percent are non-smokers. This means that lung cancer also occurs due to genetic and other exposure factors.
Causes of lung cancer other than smoking
These reasons include second-hand smoke (passive smoking), air pollution, working in mines (stone and coal mines) and factories, exposure to diesel, asbestos (a mineral found in rocks and soil that is fibrous and enters the body through breathing), and involves exposure to radon gas.
Speaking of radon, non-smokers who come in contact with this gas can also become victims of lung cancer. Experts say that radon gas has no color or odor and is even invisible. This gas usually comes from rocks, stones, sand, soil, burning coal, and fossil fuels and is considered to be the cause of lung cancer.
