Malaria cases reduced in India: News of relief has come regarding the malaria disease. Malaria disease is gradually being controlled in India. According to the report, India has successfully reduced malaria cases and the mortality rate due to the disease.
Let us tell you that malaria cases in India were 6.4 million in 2017, and it has come down to 2 million in 2023. A drop of almost 70 percent has been recorded in malaria cases. During this period, malaria deaths also decreased by 69 percent.

This report is published every year regarding malaria. Data from many countries are included. The incidence rate of malaria cases in India is much better than other countries. Director of the Global Malaria Program Dr Daniel Madandi said India has done an excellent job in reducing malaria cases. Apart from India, a considerable decline was also recorded in countries like Rwanda and Liberia.
How was malaria brought under control?
According to Dr Rajni Kant Srivastava, head of the disease eradication department at Indian Medical Education Research Valley, ICMR, it has been possible to control this disease in India through the combination of artemisinin (ACT) and d long-acting insecticide (LLIN). The advantage of this treatment is that artemisinin first kills the malaria bacteria by attacking a protein, and the second drug kills the remaining bacteria. With the help of ACT, malaria was successfully controlled. With his help, he also helped reduce the number of deaths from this disease.
How is malaria spread?
Malaria is caused by mosquito bites. This infection is transmitted by female Anopheles. When an infected mosquito bites a person, they get malaria. The malaria bite causes problems such as pain and fever in the body. In some cases it can become serious. Malaria cases have increased continuously in India in recent years.
