Meet the under the radar NHS team that ‘reminds older generations they’re not alone’

The Worcester and Droitwich Older Adults Community Mental Health Team (WDOACMHT) has finally been recognised for its hard work, having been nominated for the NHS Team of the Year Award.

The team was nominated as part of the Worcestershire Health and Social Care Awards, which aim to recognize and reward the best in the sector.

Victoria Palmer, WDOACMHT team director, said: “On behalf of everyone in the team, I would like to say a huge thank you for our nomination, we are all absolutely thrilled.

“Each and every one of us is extremely proud of the service we provide and it is wonderful to have this recognised.

“There are many more of us than in the photo and I personally want to thank all the team members for making this an incredible place to work.”

Emma Harvey, who nominated the team, said she often goes unrecognised for the work she does for older generations.

He added: “For the patients involved, the impact has been so rewarding and has helped them so much that they are now living their lives to the fullest.

“This team doesn’t get the recognition it needs and I would love for them to win, so people are aware that there is help for older generations and that they are not alone.”

The Worcestershire Health and Social Care Awards 2024 are organised by Newsquest, publishers of the Worcester News, Malvern Gazette, Evesham Journal, Bromsgrove, Droitwich and Redditch Advertisers and The Shuttle.

There are 12 categories in total: NHS Team of the Year, Palliative Care Award, NHS Hero, Care Home Worker or Team of the Year, Healthcare Employer Award, Good Nurse Award, Child and Adolescent Healthcare Award, Dementia Carer Award, Mental Health Award, GP Practice of the Year, Home Care Worker Award and Oral Health Professional of the Year.
