Risk of death from Kovid for 18 months! The risk remains even after the infection is cured, research claims


Covid Study: The Corona epidemic has wreaked havoc across the world. Till now crores of people have come in contact with it and lakhs of people have died. This epidemic also took those people in its lap, who looked healthy. A study suggests that the risk of death increases for 18 months after corona patients are infected. According to the study published in ‘Cardiovascular Research’, a journal of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC), researchers included about 1,60,000 participants in this study. Covid patients were more likely to develop heart problems than uninfected participants. 

Higher chances of many heart-related problems

The risk of death in Kovid-19 patients was 81 times higher in the acute phase and five times higher after the post-acute phase compared to uninfected people. According to the study, severe patients of Kovid-19 were more likely to develop heart disease or die than non-severe cases. COVID patients were more likely than uninfected participants to have several heart-related complications in both the short and long term, including myocardial infarction, coronary heart disease, heart failure, and deep vein thrombosis.

Some heart-related risks such as stroke and atrial fibrillation were increased in Kovid-19 patients in the short term. Although then returned to normal level. Professor Wong said that this study was conducted during the first wave of the corona epidemic.
