Link between gallstones and pancreatic cancer

A study presented at the 2022 Digestive Disease Week conference analyzed the medical records of 18,700 people with PDAC and compared them to nearly one lakh people without cancer. Researchers found that 4.7% of cancer patients had gallstones and 1.6% had their gallbladder removed in the year before PDAC diagnosis. Meanwhile, among people without cancer, only 0.8% had gallstones and only 0.3% had their gallstones removed.
