Creating an integrated environment by synchronizing classroom education with extracurricular activities would be the goal of the state government, according to Minister of School Education Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi.
speaking to the hindu, The Minister said that in addition to the development of infrastructure in schools, the department has accelerated steps to increase the endurance and agility of students by organizing various events.
“Up to 800 doctors, two each in 413 educational blocks across the state, would be appointed to provide advice and guidance to students on various aspects such as studies, career and behavioral changes,” said the Minister.
The department plans to hold plays, literary forums, and morality speeches for students to reduce their stress. Children’s films would be shown in schools.
“Students would be taken on tours with legendary personalities from different walks of life, such as sports and cinema, to facilitate interaction and knowledge about different fields,” he said, adding that this would help students find their area of interest.

The government plans to spend more than Rs 750 crore on infrastructure development in schools in rural areas. This would be carried out with the help of loans from the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Nabard), the Minister said.
A total of Rs 500 million would be used for the construction of composite walls and the maintenance of schools. A dedicated fund of ₹400 crore was provided for repair work on damaged schools, the Minister added.
The department also plans to create lasting community assets in schools under the Namakku Naame scheme.
The government plans to identify 25 schools across the state and recognize them as ‘School of Excellence’. Schools with great strength and space would be given priority, and ₹10 crore would be spent on upgrading infrastructure in each school, the Minister said.
“The goal of this initiative is to create an integrated campus that provides all the facilities for students in one place to help them excel in various fields,” he said.
Teachers were asked to continue door-to-door surveys at the school on a regular basis and to update the primary school enumeration register. This would increase public school admissions and reduce the dropout rate and child labor.
