Extensive health and wellness programs on the church’s downtown campus, 12 E. 11th St., are available to any and all who wish to maintain a healthy lifestyle. james buskirkA former FUMC senior pastor, he saw the YFC as an opportunity to bring people together in all facets of life.

“The church wanted to minister to the whole person, using Jesus as our model in Luke 2:52; grow spiritually, physically, socially and mentally,” says Wright. “The healthier we are, the better we function in all aspects.”

It is not necessary to be a member of the church to join the YFC. In fact, the majority of YFC members come from the community and many work or live at the center. Fees start at $115 annually for FUMC members and $230 for community members. Family memberships are available and there is a 50% discount for seniors 65 and older. Members can access the gym, group gym, gym, jogging/walking track, fitness center, locker rooms and showers, game room, and food court. There are 15 group fitness classes offered each week, as well as personal trainers available for an additional fee.

The YFC has youth and adult sports programs that include basketball, cheerleading, and volleyball.

“We are currently registering individuals and groups for our fall adult basketball league, kids for Upward basketball, and cheerleaders and youth for MACBA (Metro Area Christian Basketball Association),” says Wright.

Don't make these mistakes when you get food poisoning, or your health could deteriorate further.

The YFC is a great place for family fun. The full service kitchen, fitness center, food court, lounge, patio, and game room can be rented for private events or birthday parties with roller skating and other games. Kids ages 6-12 can join the YFC Play All Day Summer Camp in June and July to stay active and play with kids their age.
