Day Dreaming Disorder: Getting lost in thoughts is very common. You, me and usually all people get lost in thoughts at some point or the other. It is okay to do this for a couple of minutes, but getting lost in thoughts for a long time is a disease. Scientists call it by the name of fantasy disorder. People get lost in their thoughts and create such a world in which they experience fake happiness. By getting lost in thoughts, people experience such happiness which is not possible in real life, a person spends hours thinking like this. Such people are victims of dreaming disorder.

A research was done in Britain regarding day dreaming, the associate lecturer of the University of Sussex has told in the research that 200 million people worldwide have become victims of it. This is called Maladaptive Day Dreaming, in common language you can call it the intoxication of getting lost in thoughts. Such people like to be lost in thoughts throughout the day and in this affair they avoid many things. Day dreaming starts affecting the lives of humans badly. According to research, people who are lost in thoughts do not feel like doing any work, they just want to be immersed in those thoughts. If he is a student, then he is not able to focus on studies. People with jobs are not able to complete the work properly in the office. If there are people at home, then they are not able to do the work of the house properly. Due to this the work gets delayed. Such people do not like to get lost in their thoughts for more than half of the day, due to which they slowly start avoiding their responsibilities and there is a rift in the home-family relationship. Moreover, by being lost in thoughts during the night, time passes by, it becomes morning. The person’s sleep is also not complete. This also has a negative impact on health.
Risk of these diseases due to day dreaming
Actually people create a world of their own fantasy to avoid stress and trouble. This helps them to deal with the stress trauma and social isolation happening in real life. But it becomes a habit, to avoid negative emotions, you create such a world where you feel good and then this desire increases and in this way you can ruin yourself. Due to this, depression, restlessness and OCD ie Problems like Obsessive Compulsive Disorder start happening. According to the report, more than 50% of the patients associated with day dreaming are suffering from Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.

To avoid this problem, support of behavior therapy, talk therapy is taken. People suffering from this problem need counseling. Psychiatrists diagnose this problem and control it with medicines.
