Joint Pain: There are many joints in the human body including knee, elbow, neck, shoulder etc. These joints provide ease of movement of your body. Through these joints, you can get your body done whatever you want. Although the joints are very weak. That’s why they need proper care. But sometimes due to some reason they have to face wear and tear. Arthritis is considered to be the main cause of joint pain. There are two types of arthritis, first- Osteoarthritis and second- Rheumatoid Asthiritis.

According to the American College of Rheumatology, osteoarthritis is seen in people above the age of 40 years. It gradually progresses and goes on affecting the joints of the wrists, hands, hips and knees. Joint pain due to osteoarthritis is due to breakdown of cartilage. Cartilage acts as a cushion and shock absorber for the joints. While the second type of arthritis is ‘rheumatoid arthritis’, which usually affects women more than men. It goes on spoiling and weakening the joints over time. Rheumatoid arthritis causes swelling, pain, and fluid buildup in the joints as the body’s immune system attacks the membranes that line the joints.

There can be many reasons for joint pain-

1. bursitis, or inflammation of the cushioning pads around the joints

2. lupus

3. gout

4. Certain infectious diseases such as mumps, influenza, and hepatitis

5. Injury

6. tendinitis

7. bone or joint infection

8. overuse of joints

9. osteoporosis

10. sarcoidosis

11. rickets

12. fibromyalgia

Doctors consider both osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis to be chronic conditions. There is currently no treatment that will completely eliminate arthritis-related joint pain or prevent it from coming back. However, you can adopt some measures to get relief from them.
