According to Ayurveda, what should be eaten and what not in Sawan, know the whole thing from the doctor

Diet Plan For Sawan: The month of Sawan and the month of Bhado are the rainy season and according to Ayurveda, the rainy season has its own Varsha Ritucharya (Lifestyle). Those who follow it do not have to face any kind of disease and health issues. Now, what is this rainy season and what things should be taken care of in it, we talked to Ayurvedic doctor Dr Surendra Singh Rajput. He has been treating patients according to Ayurvedic system of medicine for the last 40 years.

What are the changes in Sawan?

The rainy season comes after the summer season and due to the rain, the heat of Jeth and Ashadh cools down, but the heat absorbed in the earth comes out in the form of vapor. In such a situation, there is dehydration in the body as well because water comes out from the body in the form of sweat. Along with this, there is a deficiency of salts and acids in the body.

Digestion becomes weak in the rainy season. Some have diarrhea and some have constipation. In this situation, all the three doshas keep on increasing and decreasing. In Ayurveda, three doshas are considered the main for health. These are Vata, Pitta and Kapha. They need to be balanced in the body to stay healthy, but due to weak digestion power, imbalance keeps coming in them.

What to eat in Sawan?
In the rainy season, such food should be consumed which is going to destroy these three doshas of the body. That is, do not let them grow. Such food items are called tridosha nashak. For example, gooseberry, lemon and liquid diet should be consumed more.

  • moong lentils
  • Moong dal thin khichdi
  • Vegetables that come in the rainy season should be eaten.
  • Bhindi and Arbi must be eaten during rainy days, these are very nutritious things. But ghee should never be consumed with them. Because gluten (sticky substance or grease) comes out of them. That’s why they themselves give a lot of aliphatic to the body, in such a situation, adding ghee causes harm to food. Because excess of everything is forbidden.

What not to eat in Sawan?

  • Those vegetables and fruits which are not born in this season should not be consumed. Nowadays it is a trend to eat foods brought from cold storage, which is not at all suitable for health.
  • Due to weak digestion, some special vegetables should not be consumed during the Sawan season. For example, potatoes, peas, tomatoes, etc. Because these vegetables are from winter and consuming them in the same season gives benefits. Consumption of these vegetables in the winter season is as beneficial as it is harmful in the rainy season.
  • Eating vegetables like potatoes, peas, tomatoes in the rainy season causes many damages to the body. For example, potato is alkaline and due to humidity in the month of Sawan, more sweat is coming out of the body. Acid is released from the body with sweat. That is, there is already a lack of acid in the body and alkalinity has increased. In such a situation, when you consume potatoes, then problems like itching-itch, ringworm, boils, hair fall etc. will increase on the skin.
  • Similarly, the reason for not eating peas and tomatoes is that peas increase Vata in the body and tomato increases acid in the body. But in the month of Sawan, you should consume such things which are Tridosh destroyer. That is, do not work to increase or decrease any one quality, but to establish a balance.
