Find out the causes of ovarian cancer, doctors have found the root

Scientists discover the cause of ovarian cancer: Breast cancer and ovarian cancer are the most serious types of cancer in women. According to the Indian Council of Medical Research report 2019, ovarian cancer is the third most common cancer among women in India. Every year, around two million women around the world die from this cancer.

Ovarian cancer, the cancer that develops in the fallopian tubes, is called high-grade serous carcinoma and is the sixth leading cause of cancer death in women (women’s cancer). High-grade serous carcinoma has no obvious symptoms and no reliable early detection tools.

Because treatment is started too late, patients with high-grade serous carcinoma do not survive more than five years. However, recent research has revealed the causes of high-grade serous carcinoma. Experts hope this could increase the chances of early detection and treatment of high-grade serous carcinoma. Let us know what came out of this research.

Genetic mutation causes cancer

Mutations in two key genes, TP53 and RB1, are common in severe cases of serous carcinoma in humans. When these genes function properly, they play a role in suppressing tumor growth. In more than 96% of cases, the TP53 gene is mutated, while more than 60% of cases have changes in RB1. Previous research had already shown that these genes were involved in the development of ovarian cancer, but new research has explored the role of these genes in the fallopian tubes.
